WHAT WE DO
Queer Nation is a nonprofit organization driving cultural change for queer acceptance. We understand that to win in court or win at the ballot box, we have to change cultural attitudes about queer people now.
We develop educational, short-form content for youth audiences, covering topics in history, politics & news, and modern storytelling. We collaborate with queer artists, creators, entertainers, and experts to develop original content that educates, entertains and empowers our audience.
We collaborate with nonprofit leaders and activists to develop and promote effective messaging and communications that lead to measured changes in cultural attitudes toward the queer community.
OUR STORY
In the 1990s, a group of four ACT UP activists faced with an increasingly homophobic world decided to create an organization called Queer Nation. They used radical guerilla marketing tactics to increase queer visibility & shift cultural norms about the queer community. Their actions were an important part of the greater movement to push forward queer rights and led to the end of sodomy laws, increased access to quality healthcare for HIV/AIDs patients, and, finally, the grand achievement of the right for same-sex couples to marry.
In the last two years, our founding members have been devastated by the vitriolic attacks on the queer community, particularly queer youth. We’ve watched in horror as bills have been introduced to roll back the queer rights activists fought so hard to establish.

Queer Nation isn’t an organization, it’s a movement. We don’t believe in sitting on the sidelines letting others fight for our right to exist. We’re standing up for all queer people.

Queer Nation is a cultural change organization that leverages the power of social media to drive cultural change on queer issues. We empower queer people & queer allies with engaging content and educational resources, as a way to reduce the negative impact such as bullying, suicide, and violence against the queer community, particularly queer youth.
